The Association of Marina Industries (AMI) welcomes the Marina Association of Texas (MAT) as its newest membership alliance. Now all MAT marina members are automatically AMI members as a part of their MAT membership. This means MAT members will now have access to all AMI services, products and benefits in addition to those they already receive from MAT.

“The addition of MAT to our expanding Affiliate Program is an exciting development given the size and strength of their organization,” said Brad Gross, AMI Chairman. “Together we will provide a loud voice for Texas and the industry nationwide.”

The Marina Association of Texas is a nonprofit, volunteer-led organization composed of marinas on the inland and coastal waters of Texas, as well as associate members whose firms supply products and services to marinas. MAT, the first association of its kind in the nation, was organized in January 1973 with a mission to improve, protect and advance the interest of the marina industry in Texas. Members come together to share their ideas, knowledge and experiences for the mutual benefit of all within the industry.

MAT President Angie Lamb said, “The partnership between MAT and AMI is a natural step toward better protecting and promoting the marina industry in Texas. We look forward to working with AMI through our new partnership to keep our members better informed and better prepared to deal with everyday challenges of marina ownership and operation. AMI provides the national reach to extend MAT’s voice beyond the state of Texas and brings a national perspective to our Texas marinas.”

This alliance will help both associations to extend their voices and reach. Through the new relationship with MAT, AMI will also increase the number of its affiliate relationships with State Marine Trade Groups, which already includes the Tennessee Marina Association, Midwest Marina Association, Virginia Marine Trades Association, and Boating British Columbia. Alliance relationships allow for an entire MTA’s membership to join at a deep discount to regular member prices. Members of the new alliance will benefit from access to national networking, learning events, discounts on training, scholarship funding for education and access to the latest industry news.

The association is very well supported and virtually any significant marine electronics company that you could name, was represented there on the Exhibitor list at the Expo as well as all being NMEA members and very supportive of the organization.
