The Advanced Marina Management (AMM) program is a training course designed for senior marina professionals and the last training step required to qualify one to apply for either a Certified Marina Managers (CMM) or Certified Marina Operators (CMO)certification. Through small groups, interactive workshops, and specific case studies, the AMM course examines such topics as:

Marina profit-center management

Strategic Planning

Marina-operations techniques

Marina law, contracts and liabilities

Facility design & retrofits

Improving the quality and value of marina services

Best profit ideas

Business strategies and financial management

Financial Benchmark ratios and analysis

Marina marketing, promotion and pricing

Learning from other facilities and their managers

Team lead case study with presentation to local facility managers and owners

Networking opportunities with industry leaders and peers.

The AMM offers its graduates a national and international business perspective on management issues, and a long-term network of international contacts to rely on in the future. Learn about policies and practices that have been successful in other regions of the country and in different nations. Discover new solutions to traditional management challenges. Establish a long-lasting network of contacts in the industry – a major benefit for years to come. Those who take this course return to their facilities with a new perspective and fresh approach to management.

REQUIREMENTS

Successful completion of the Intermediate Marina Management Course (IMM) and at least three years experience as a Marina Manager, working day to day, onsite in a marina of 50 or more berths OR at least $500,000 in gross revenues and responsible for the operations, administration, and financial performance of the marina (and boatyard if applicable).

Hear what IMI Certified Marina Managers have to say about the training programs…

The AMM definitely raised my level of human resources operating skills and record keeping. I have utilized what I learned in several cases with potentially hostile employees, knowing the right and wrong time to terminate an employee. I also won five cases of unemployment benefit disputes due to proper record keeping and logging of employee verbal and written warnings, poor attendance, and reasons of final termination-potentially saving us thousands of dollars in unemployment claims. The best parts of the [Advanced] class were contractual law and admiralty law with Dennis Nixon. Within months I put some of what I learned to the test when local police tried to take a boat from our marina. I refused to let the boat leave, even when threatened with being arrested. I recommended the police officers check with an admiralty attorney first. The police officers returned two days later with a smile, shaking their heads. We are now all great friends, and we got the money that we probably never would have seen if I gave the boat up. – Bruce Grout, CMM, New Port Cove Marine Center, Florida

Four Winns’ new H9 is stunning!

CMRA

As of July 1st, 2024 the embargo is lifted on the photos and information about Four Winns’ new H9 model and it is stunning!

About a month ago, I traveled to Charlevoix, MI for a special press event to introduce the H9 to a small group of journalists. The water and the weather were a bit cool but the sun was out and Lake Charlevoix was calm and the Four Winns H9 was very impressive. This is a 29-foot 11-inch luxury day boat with a 9- foot 2-inch beam and it features a fabulous expansive flat floor all the way from the bow rider area to the transom and the swim platform.
