Designers Invited to Take the Challenge During the Superyacht Summit

Fort Lauderdale, FL, January 17, 2017 (Newswire.com) – If you have a daringly different yacht design that will knock people’s socks off, the U.S. Superyacht Association (USSA), which promotes the superyacht industry of the United States, wants to hear about it and help spread the news. Both professional and budding designers are invited to showcase their concepts and ideas during a competition called the Superyacht Tank Test.

Now in its second year, this contest, similar to the famous TV show “Shark Tank,” will provide participants the opportunity to pitch their creations to a high-profile panel of yachting-industry judges and industry delegates. It’s being held during the fourth-annual Superyacht Summit, hosted by the USSA on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the West Palm Beach Marriott in West Palm Beach.

The high-energy Superyacht Tank Test challenges designers to show how innovative design can continue to combine form and function, but in a way that is increasingly Ergonomic, Economic, and Easier to build than ever before. It’s divided into two categories:

1. ESTABLISHED PROFESSIONAL: professional designers who have already designed and built at least one boat.

2. BEGINNER: young designers who are still in school or are recent graduates, and who have not yet built any boats.

Both Established Professionals and Beginners can enter two divisions:

1. MOTORYACHT: exterior lines and interior layout of a motoryacht.

2. SAILING YACHT: exterior lines and interior layout of a sailing yacht.

“The Superyacht Tank Test is the USSA’s way of showcasing the talent on American shores, and the ideal environment in which creative thinkers can share their vision,” said Diane M. Byrne, Summit chairperson and the editor of MegayachtNews.com.

The Superyacht Tank Test format is simple. Six finalists from the Established Professional category and six finalists from the Beginner category will get three minutes to pitch the Superyacht Summit judges and delegates. Pictures, videos, and music are all permitted as part of the presentation. One winner will be selected from each category.

Winners will get to showcase their designs in the USSA Pavilion at the Palm Beach International Boat Show on March 23 and 24. They’ll also be featured in the post-Summit press release.

Entries must be received by Friday, February 10, 2017. All materials must be sent to info@ussuperyacht.com with the subject line “Superyacht Tank Test 2017.” Application forms for both contests are available on the USSA website. Materials can be submitted as PDFs, JPGs, or PowerPoint presentations.
