THE MOORINGS LAUNCHES MARTINIQUE RUM EXPERIENCE TOUR

Rum Experience

May 8, 2017

The Moorings, the world’s premier yacht charter company, announces the official launch of their newest Crewed Yacht Experience – an exclusive Martinique rum tour – available as an optional add-on package for all-inclusive St. Lucia charter vacations.

For those seeking a deluxe Caribbean escape sampling the best of local culture and cuisine paired with full-service cruising in an exquisite destination, The Moorings now offers a one-of-a kind Martinique rum tour. The new experience is available for booking on Crewed charters in St. Lucia, where guests will board their private first-class yacht with expert captain and personal gourmet chef then sail north towards the island of Martinique.

From there, enjoy a week-long adventure exploring the idyllic shores on the west coast of Martinique, stopping at various points along the way to enjoy distillery tours and rum-inspired excursions on land, all with the added convenience of a designated personal driver. Cruising alongside palm-studded beaches and secluded anchorages aboard a state-of-the-art vacation platform, key highlights of this new Crewed Experience include:

• A visit to Martinique’s Habitation Clement, the only habitation with an historic rum distillery. Charter guests will learn how they make the famous rum here and will pseudotravel back in time to discover the ancient Creole culture on the island. Courtesy of the catwalk that passes above the two wings of the distillery, visitors can gain exceptional insight into the production process and get an up-close look at the machines that manufacture the rum.

• A visit to the well-preserved Neisson rum distillery in Le Carbet to learn more about Martinique’s rum traditions as well as the distillery itself, which prides itself on producing something that is cherished by many and also supports local agriculture. Founded in 1931, the Neisson distillery has remained family-owned and operated thanks to a deep-rooted appreciation of self-grown sugar cane and the precise method used to churn out exquisitely-aged bottles of handcrafted artisanal rum.

In addition, the tour also includes: lunch at a local restaurant in Fort de France, a visit to the gardens of Balata – a beautiful botanical garden nestled inside a protected rainforest, a visit to St. Pierre for breathtaking views of the iconic volcano site, optional guided train tour, and more.

According to Josie Tucci, General Manager of The Moorings, “The French heritage of Martinique makes it a cultural gem in the Caribbean; and the new rum tour adds just the right amount of onshore activities to an already fabulous Crewed charter vacation.”

Yacht accommodation options for the new Crewed Experience rum tour include the Moorings 4800, which sleeps up to 6 and the flagship Moorings 5800, which sleeps up to 10 and includes an onboard steward in addition to the captain and chef. Both yachts are spacious, stylishly appointed and fully inclusive of all meals, snacks, and beverages. Produce is freshly sourced, prepared and served by the Crew, and meals are tailored to meet the customers’ individual tastes and requirements. Snorkeling equipment, fishing gear, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards are also included with all Moorings Crewed yachts.
