USE A CAMERA TO SPEED UP TEMPLATE DIGITIZING

Photo Modeler Technologies

Dec 17, 2019

Do you use physical templates (plastic, paper, cardboard, or wood) for your boat canvas or deck measurement tasks?

Did you know that you can use a camera to speed up the template digitizing task, and in some cases, remove the need for the templates altogether?

“I’d looked at other digitizing systems, and regardless of price, PhotoModeler was the better product. It is easy to set up, easy to use, has good integration with industry-standard CAD packages. Our pattern capture workflow has been massively reduced in terms of time and required skill sets!”
– John Bland, Managing Director, Tecsew Ltd. and MFA member

Use the PhotoModeler software together with your camera to:
• Accurately digitize existing 2D templates and patterns
• Measure complex flat shapes for deck replacement
• Perform other 2D and 3D measurements on boats
Some benefits of using a camera for your boat measurement tasks are:
• Little to no specialized equipment (even a mobile phone camera will work)
• Lower cost than many other options
• Faster and more flexible in-field measurement
• High-throughput and accurate in-factory template photo-digitizing
