DISABILITY LEADS TO SAFE BOAT BOARDING SOLUTION

Safe Boarding Solution

Mar 17, 2020

A lifelong boater, Steve Resta’s advancing disability left him unable to safely board and disembark his 22′ Sea Ray Weekender. But being determined to stay out on the water, he invented the Safashor Dock Model. It’s a unique gangplank system that makes it easy for people of varying ages and abilities to stay actively involved in boating, especially those with anxieties and a fear of falls and injuries.

Using the Safashor Dock Model is simple. Permanently mounted to the dock, it stands upright when not in use. To deploy, the device is lifted slightly and then lowered onto the gunnel wall. Cushioning pads protect gelcoat, paint and varnish. Finally, a two-piece, telescoping handle is secured; a second can be added for even greater security. A video is at bit.ly/Safashor.

The Safashor Dock Model is built in the USA of marine-grade T61/63 aluminum and stainless steel for a long service life. The 38″ standard gangplank is slip-resistant and is tested to hold up to 350 lbs. Ideal for locations with tidal fluctuations up to 4′, it’s designed to be used with 21’–36′ boats with gunnel walls that are between 24″–38″ high.
The Safashor Dock Model comes with a “lifetime” manufacturer’s warranty. It has an MSRP of $2,795 USD in the United States.
