Marine Surveys Canada welcomes Craig Bjarnason for Manitoba and Lake of the Woods

Craig Bjarnason

Apr 4, 2022

Marine Surveys Canada would like to welcome Craig Bjarnason as the newest member of our team of marine surveyors. Craig is based in Winnipeg and will be servicing Manitoba and also the Lake of the Woods area of Ontario.

Craig comes to us with a diverse background in mechanical engineering and a keen interest in boats. He is a mechanical engineering technologist and has also studied yacht design with the Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology. This engineering and design background gives a great perspective to evaluating structures and systems, as well as the ability to decipher standards and regulations, as he currently designs and builds boats to be compliant with Transport Canada and ABYC standards.

An active boat designer as well as professional builder, his background in current standards and practices is pertinent to the surveying trade. He also brings to the organization knowledge on specialty construction methods such as welded aluminum hulls and cold molded wood epoxy vessel construction.

Craig is not only a keen boat designer, builder, and surveyor, but actively sails and fishes local waters.
