NMMA’s 2021 U.S. Boating Statistical Abstract: Boat and Engine Exports and Imports Report now available

The Boat and Engine Exports and Imports section of NMMA’s 2021 U.S. Recreational Boating Statistical Abstract is now available. This report examines 24 years of historical data on the different categories of recreational boats and marine engines imported to and exported from the U.S. each year. Data show U.S. exports of recreational boats and engines reached a 14-year high in 2021 with 133,011 boats shipped internationally and 132,874 engines exported.

Other key insights from the report include:

• The top three destinations for United States boat exports were Canada, the Caribbean and Central American region, and Mexico.

• U.S. consumption of recreational boats imported from abroad continued to rise in 2021, and boat imports reached a new record of $2.7 billion, up 31.2 percent compared to 2020.

• The top three sources of United States boat imports were the European Union, Mexico, and the rest of the Asia-Pacific region.
