Portable speaker perfect boating lifestyle accessory
Sept 13, 2022
The new JBL by Harman Flip 6 Portable Waterproof Speaker from ProSpec Electronics may be the year’s most perfect boating lifestyle accessory. Completely waterproof for sandbar and beach excursions, it’ll crank music for up to 12 hours. And because it’s Bluetooth 5.1 enabled, mobile devices can stay safely stowed on the boat up to 125′ away. Ideal for both owners wanting portable tunes, as well as OEMs offering premium add-ons to installed stereo systems, it debuts at the International BoatBuilders Exhibition & Conference, September 27–29, Tampa, Florida, booth 3-809.
With a bold design and nine vibrant color options, the Flip 6 packs a lot of sound into its compact, handheld size. Rated IP67 waterproof and dustproof, it sounds great standing upright, on its side or tossed atop a beach towel.
The Flip 6 two-way speaker system includes a unique racetrack-shaped 20W RMS woofer, separate 10W RMS tweeter and dual pumping bass radiators for exceptionally loud, yet clean audio. With a frequency response of 63Hz–20kHz and a signal-to-noise ratio of >80dB, the speaker delivers the accurate highs and lows JBL by Harman is known for.
Truly social, the Flip 6 from ProSpec Electronics allows connecting to two Bluetooth-enabled devices simultaneously for sharing music playback. Its JBL PartyBoost technology enables pairing with another such device for a true left/right stereo experience—or linking with multiple PartyBoost speakers for massive arena-like sound. The free JBL Portable app for Android and iOS gives users complete control over optimizing audio settings.
With its powerful built-in lithium-ion polymer battery, the Flip 6 will run up to 12 hours, yet takes only 2.5 hours to recharge via the included 47.2″ USB-C cable. For safety in a marine environment, if water, salt or other contaminant ingresses the plug connection while charging, the speaker will sound an alert.
At only 7″ L x 2.6″ W x 2.8″ H and a mere 1.21 lbs., the Flip 6 is as easy to tote to shore as it is to store onboard when not in use.
