Dometic Outdoor has served as the Gold Sponsor for 2023 ABYC Standards Week, a week-long boating industry event that kicked off in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dometic’s involvement plays an important role in making boating safer and more enjoyable.
Dometic Outdoors served as the Gold Sponsor for 2023 ABYC Standards Week, which kicked off on Monday, January 8 and ran through January 13 at the Double Tree Hilton Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana.
This annual event brings together hundreds of experts from across the boating industry with the goal of establishing voluntary safety standards for the design, construction, maintenance, and repair of boats worldwide. As Gold Sponsor of this important annual event, Dometic is helping the global boating industry fundamentally improve boats of the future and enhance the boating experience for consumers around the world.
ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council) is a non-profit member organization driven by volunteer technical experts including boat builders, technicians, engineers, boat accessory manufacturers, marine surveyors and investigators, retailers and dealers, yacht brokers and designers. ABYC membership also includes marinas, law firms, government agencies, boat owners, insurance companies and other boating industry stakeholders.
As an independent, consensus-based body, this diverse group of experts works together to develop new safety standards for the industry. The face-to-face meetings and working sessions of ABYC Standards Week are critical to this effort. The 2023 event will include Project Technical Meetings on the topics of Fire Fighting and Detection Systems, Electrical, Fuel and Ventilation, Control Systems and Thermal Appliances.
Eric Fetchko, President of Dometic Outdoor’s Marine Segment, is a long-time member and supporter of ABYC and is integrally involved in these standards-setting meetings. “As an industry leader dedicated to engineering new solutions and technologies for the boating industry, it’s vital for us to be at the table where these important decisions are made,” said Fetchko. “We share the same goal as the entire boating industry — to help provide safer and better boats for customers around the world. We are proud that 90% of today’s boats are built to ABYC Standards,” Fetchko added.
Fetchko had the special honor of presenting one of the industry awards recognizing individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in serving ABYC over the past year.
