VOLTARI 260 and its hands-on adventurous crew journeyed across the Gulf Stream from Key Largo to Bimini on a single battery charge.

Canadian electric boat manufacturer VOLTARI has announced that it crossed the Gulf Stream from Key Largo in the Florida Keys to Bimini, Bahamas, on January 19, 2023 — marking the first and longest overseas distance an electric vehicle (EV) has successfully completed.

The VOLTARI 260 is the world’s first fully electric performance boat sporting zero emissions and unmatched torque – capable of reaching 55+ MPH for conventional use. The 91-mile trip took place on a single battery charge and was completed in less than 20 hours. VOLTARI 260 cruised at a constant speed of 5 MPH, carrying only essential crew members in celebration of its first-ever long-distance trip.

Between VOLTARI’s record-breaking expedition and participation at the 2023 Miami International Boat Show, the Caribbean overseas voyage served as the official unveiling of the VOLTARI 260 and paved the way for what is to come from the company as a whole. According to ResearchAndMarkets, the electric boat market was valued at $5 billion in 2021 and is estimated to reach $16.6 billion by 2031. VOLTARI is revolutionizing the EV boat industry as the world transitions to electromobility on the water.

“We are beyond proud of what we have accomplished as a team,” said Cam Heaps, founder and CEO of VOLTARI. “We created the VOLTARI 260 to provide freedom to explore open waters on long run times and with the success of this trip, the team has witnessed firsthand the capabilities of our newest innovation in this rapidly emerging industry. The Bahamas crossing was the first step in proving to the world how we provide a thrilling boating experience with minimal impact to the environment and maximum enjoyment.”

VOLTARI was born when Cam Heaps and his partner, President Tim Markou, combined ultra-light carbon-fiber materials with high-performance hull designs and equipped them with power and propulsion systems from LTS Marine, a Canadian innovator in marine power technologies now owned by Voltari. The company has combined years of development in materials, propulsion and design into one state-of-the-art performance EV boating experience.

“Not only did we set out to break records, in the process of doing so, we set a tone for the true capabilities of the VOLTARI 260 and became more confident than ever in our technology,” said Markou.

Equipped with a 142 kW h lithium-ion propulsion system, fully integrated control and navigation systems and 100% aerospace-grade carbon fiber construction, the VOLTARI 260 has the ability to reach a peak power of 550kw (700HP) and 60 MPH top speed in ocean conditions. With a combination of high-grade materials, advanced technology, and top-drawer service, VOLTARI 260 delivers a superior boating experience with unmatched acceleration and handling, as well as peace of mind without air, noise and water pollution.

The VOLTARI 260 made its debut to the public during the 2023 Miami International Boat Show To learn more about the record-breaking journey and VOLTARI, visit www.voltarielectric.com.

The association is very well supported and virtually any significant marine electronics company that you could name, was represented there on the Exhibitor list at the Expo as well as all being NMEA members and very supportive of the organization.
