Ride Engineering at IBEX 2023

Sept 26, 2023

Perfect Storm is proud to present: “RIDE ENGINEERING: A Multi-pronged Approach to Shock Reduction” at IBEX ’23. This enlightening marine professional’s seminar is scheduled for October 3, 2023, at 4:00 PM, in Room 117 at IBEX in the Tampa Convention Center, Tampa, Florida.

Seminar Details:
• Title: RIDE ENGINEERING: A Multi-pronged Approach to Shock Reduction
• Date: October 3, 2023
• Time: 4:00 PM
• Location: Room 117, IBEX in Tampa, Florida

Seminar Description:
High slamming loads that cause operator and passenger discomfort and injury have plagued high-speed boat designers and operators for decades.
The Perfect Storm panel of experts will trace the damaging slamming loads from the vessel’s point of impact when the hull crashes into a wave, through the running-surface into the material structure of the hull, then into the cockpit or pilothouse sole, seats, and the actual helm station, and lastly into the vulnerable human frame.

They’ll explain the potentials for shock reduction at every step of the way, as well as technologies to amend a vessel’s slamming behavior in various conditions, how to measure operator exposure, the value of modeling hull behavior, and predictive software solutions that can advise operators on optimal speed and handling.

Presenters (in order of shock mitigation):
• Prediction: Naethan Eagles, TotalSim US, info@totalsim.us
• Hullform: Scott Porta, Porta Performance, Scott@PortaProducts.com
• Structure: Scott Lewit, Structural Composites, SLewit@StructuralComposites.com
• Power: Scott Porta, Porta Products, Info@PortaProducts.com
• Surface: Rich Kase, Skydex, RKase@Skydex.com
