Imtra mourns the passing of Bill Farnham

Dec 19, 2023

IMTRA Corporation and its employee-owners are saddened by the passing of William “Bill” Farnham, former owner and longtime leader within IMTRA.

After starting his professional career at the Digital Equipment Co., Farnham began his 28-year tenure as CEO with IMTRA, taking over from his father who started the firm. There, his passion for boating shone as he contributed greatly to the growth of the company. Farnham took immense pride in his time spent at IMTRA, and his influence still thrives within the company culture today. He had an uncanny knack for finding the next thing IMTRA’s customers would want or need and partnered with primarily European suppliers to bring these new ideas to market. He forged deep relationships with IMTRA’s supplier partners, many of which live on to this day.

Born and raised in Massachusetts, Farnham spent four years in the U.S. Navy following his graduation from Harvard. He spent much of his life indulging in his love for the ocean, including his childhood exploring Nauset Beach’s dunes and boating in Marion, Mass. He also enjoyed winters filled with golf and tennis, duck hunting, and socializing and sharing stories with his friends and family.

“Bill was a beloved part of our IMTRA family, and always will be,” said Eric Braitmayer, president and CEO of IMTRA. “He understood that the combination of excellent products and great people would lead to success. He developed and fostered the customer-first, team culture that still thrives at our company today. On behalf of the entire company, I can say that Bill will be deeply missed.”
