NMMA Canada Government Relations Update: Pierre Poilievre Visits Dometic Marine

Pierre Poilievre visits Dometic

Dec 17, 2024

NMMA Canada was pleased to host Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, for a tour of Dometic Marine’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Richmond, BC. More than 100 employees welcomed Mr. Poilievre as he explored Dometic’s innovative production capabilities and spoke about the critical role of skilled manufacturing jobs in Canada’s marine sector.

Pierre Poilievre visits Dometic

NMMA Canada’s Executive Director, Marie-France MacKinnon, used the opportunity to discuss the pressing need to repeal the luxury tax. She highlighted how the tax has failed to meet revenue targets, stifled growth in rural communities, and pushed jobs to the U.S. The visit underscored NMMA Canada’s commitment to strategic advocacy and fostering dialogue with policymakers to advance the marine industry’s priorities.

It should be noted that NMMA Canada offered the same experience to all party leaders in our on-going strategy to position the recreational marine sector as non-partisan, and only Mr. Poilievre’s team responded to the invite.

Thank you to the entire Dometic team for participating in this crucial Government Relations exercise and opening your workplace to us.
