CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

I’m especially thinking about the industry’s programs over the years to attract new people into careers in boating. For me, the first really ambitious program that I recall was started by Al Donaldson as he took over the former Ontario Marina Operator’s Association (now called Boating Ontario). I’m saddened to report that Al passed away last week. Those details are below in his obituary. But the ideas Al introduced have kept going and today in Ontario, Rick Layzell and the Boating Ontario members have picked up the torch and are strongly supporting the career promotion and recruitment.

Have a look at the Career Opportunities section at the bottom of this newsletter. Job listings are free. They are well organized and we have been doing this column continuously for 15-years now. We have quite a track record. Simply follow the directions and send us your career opportunities. We update the listings every week.

We are in a very interesting industry offering a wide range of career opportunities because we need a very wide range of skills and talents.

We always need talented technicians, but there are great jobs in parts, as sales and marketing professionals, yacht brokers and boat builders. Boating Industry Canada News Week Career Opportunities also lists opportunities for Government employees and executive positions in finance and management.

Since 2010, all sorts of employers have posted excellent career opportunities in this column. Make it a regular habit to keep tabs on the industry by checking this column every week.

If you are an employer, Boating Industry Canada will run your ‘Help Wanted’ advertising for FREE as long as the ads are for marine industry employment in Canada. We do this as a courtesy to the industry. To have your Career Opportunity posted, email Elissa Campbell @ elissacampbell@kerrwil.com .

As we head toward the start of spring across Canada, the business heats up, the boats get launched and people get out on the water. I suspect that this year will be an especially strong year for boating as Canadians respond to changing global circumstances and decide to spend their vacation money here at home.

Get ready for a solid year ahead!
