JBL Announces BassPro Go2 Marine-Ready Two-In-One Subwoofer and Portable Speaker

October 13, 2026

JBL has announced the BassPro Go2, a compact two-in-one audio system that operates as a powered subwoofer when secured to its 12-volt docking base and becomes a portable full-range Bluetooth speaker when released. Designed for marine environments and demanding outdoor use, the BassPro Go2 gives boaters deeper bass underway and portable JBL sound for the dock, beach, campsite, tailgate, jobsite and home.

Whether you are cruising open water or anchored at a sandbar, the BassPro Go2 delivers the low-frequency impact you expect from a dedicated subwoofer. A 140mm active subwoofer, passive radiators, dual 40mm full-range transducers and efficient Class D amplification work together inside a compact enclosure to produce 100 watt and 200 watts peak in subwoofer mode. JBL Smart Loudspeaker Control continuously models various audio characteristics to maximize bass output and overall volume at higher listening levels. It also reduces distortion and helps protect the transducers from mechanical and thermal stress.

“The BassPro Go2 gives boaters the low-frequency performance they expect from a mounted subwoofer and lets them carry full-range JBL sound ashore,” said Shawn Spedding, Director of Sales, Mobil Audio Aftermarket and Consumer Audio, Americas. “Its secure docking system, two selectable audio modes and Auracast connectivity make it practical on the boat and useful at the dock, campsite or worksite.”

The BassPro Go2 carries an IPX4 rating and is engineered with UV and salt-spray protection, so it is ready for sun, spray and open-air conditions. A conformal-coated circuit board guards the electronics and an integrated handle make it easy to grab and go. The same compact design is suited to boats, canoes, kayaks and fishing trips; trucks, cars, UTVs, RVs and commercial vehicles.

The supplied base plate can be installed in multiple onboard or in-vehicle locations and is designed to hold the BassPro Go2 securely through demanding conditions. A quick-disconnect power and charging harness lets users dock or remove the speaker without tools. While docked, the system can add low-frequency reinforcement to an existing audio system or operate as the primary full-range audio source. The included remote bass control provides convenient level adjustment from the helm or driver’s seat.

Removed from its base, the BassPro Go2 provides up to eight hours of portable playback from its rechargeable battery. A multifunction USB-C connection supports MP3 and WAV playback, firmware updates and 5-volt, along with 2.1-amp charging for compatible phones and other USB-powered devices. The included AC home adapter allows the speaker to recharge away from the boat or vehicle.

Available for the first time on a marine product, the JBL ONE app provides access to full-range and subwoofer modes, three bass-boost settings, stereo pairing, volume and playback controls, product naming, Auracast assistance, software updates and support information. The JBL ONE app will give users control to all of their JBL-supported speakers in one easy-to-use app. The BassPro Go2 is also compatible with the JBL Token Bluetooth Low Energy remote for track, volume, play, pause and mute control.

Bluetooth® 5.4 provides wireless streaming with an outdoor range of up to approximately 98 feet. Auracast™ Broadcast Audio lets the BassPro Go2 share audio with multiple compatible products, including JBL Auracast-enabled full-range speakers. In a supported setup, the BassPro Go2 can supply wireless low-frequency reinforcement while speakers such as the JBL Flip 7 distribute full-range sound around the boat, dock, campsite or gathering area.

The JBL BassPro Go2 package includes the BassPro Go2, remote bass control, base plate, pigtail harness, home power adapter and installation manual. For more information on the BassPro Go2, or JBL’s full lineup of audio products, please visit www.jbl.com.

Good Advice that You Can Share – The Art of Anchoring

Unless a boat is secured, it will drift away. If it cannot be attached to something secure, such as a dock, piling, mooring buoy, tree, or boulder, it must be anchored. There is much more to anchoring than simply tossing the anchor over the side.

An anchoring system has two parts: the anchor itself and the rode which connects the anchor to the boat. To be effective, an anchor must have good holding power, and the rode must be strong enough to withstand the strains that are put on it.
