Buckeye Marine to Host Family Fun On-Water Event in Fenelon Falls

On July 7th, Buckeye Marine will host Ontario’s only Wake Surf competition at an all new location-Garnet Graham Park in Fenelon Falls. This exciting location is only one of the upgrades to an annual event hosted by Buckeye called Mastercraft’s Big Day Out.

“We are so happy to be offering this premier event in Fenelon Falls. This great new location and the addition of a rock climbing wall, paddle boarding, and live entertainment are sure to add to the excitement!” states Carly Poole, marketing co-ordinator for Buckeye. “Since the birth of Big Day Out in 2009, we have seen continuous growth in attendance. With this move to Fenelon’s waterfront we are confident that we will attract more local boaters and cottagers as well as draw in watersport enthusiasts from across the province. The event has grown to be a great day on the water for the whole family that includes: a wake surf competition, volleyball, demo rides, live entertainment, how-to lessons, games and activities for kids, and an amazing professional ski show” Says Ms. Poole.

“We are fortunate to have been welcomed to Fenelon with open arms and have enjoyed working with local vendors and community groups. This year we are pleased to announce that Lock Jam will be putting on our final act to round out the days festivities. Our closing concert will be performed by an amazing young band called “Motion Device”. They come well recommended by the likes of Kim Mitchell and the judges of Canada’s Got Talent. If you loved the movie “School of Rock” you don’t want to miss seeing Motion Device’s 10 year old lead singer rock it out!”says Poole.

Buckeye is very pleased to be able to bring wakesurfing to our local community. “Wakesurfing has really grown in popularity over the past few years. One of the biggest draws to wakesurfing versus other watersports is that it serves a much more diverse demographic. Because it can be done at a much slower pace or can be as physically demanding as you want to make it, it appeals to kids and maturing adults” notes Jay Poole director of wakeboarding at Waterski Wakeboard Ontario. “We are hopeful that once again this year we will see competitors from our Little Kahuna’s (12 and under) to our Big Kahuna’s (over 35) and all ages and abilities in between”.

Big Day Out is a full day event that is run this year in support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes. The event includes: surf tournament, beach volleyball, professional ski show, kids games, live entertainment, demo day, surf lessons, how-to instruction and equipment demos, face painting, rock climbing wall and a concert by Motion Device. Admission is free; although we will be collecting donations in support of the Boys & Girls Club. Visit www.mcbigdayout.com for details.
