FAREWELL TO CHRIS CUDDY

The boating community would like to extend its condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Christopher (Chris) Cuddy who passed away on Tuesday June 3, 2014. Chris worked at various marinas including Marina Quay West, Toronto Island Marina, Peterborough Marina, and most recently Port Elgin Harbour in 2013.

Born June 5, 1970, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. Christopher is survived by his father Bryan, Sheri and their son Liam, his brother Jeffrey and his wife Amanda and their son Nathan. Predeceased by his mother Elizabeth and aunt Isabel. A memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Mental Health Association. Good Advice that You Can Share – The Art of Anchoring

Unless a boat is secured, it will drift away. If it cannot be attached to something secure, such as a dock, piling, mooring buoy, tree, or boulder, it must be anchored. There is much more to anchoring than simply tossing the anchor over the side.

An anchoring system has two parts: the anchor itself and the rode which connects the anchor to the boat. To be effective, an anchor must have good holding power, and the rode must be strong enough to withstand the strains that are put on it.
