CMMsThe International Marina Institute (IMI), the training arm of the Association of Marina Industries (AMI), held its award ceremony for new Certified Marina Managers (CMMs) and Operators (CMOs) Thursday, January 24, at AMI’s annual International Marina & Boatyard Conference (IMBC) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

This year IMI welcomes 12 new CMMs and three new CMOs to this elite group of marina management professionals. There are currently 397 CMMs and 40 CMOs worldwide.

New CMMs and CMOs have completed the Intermediate Marina Management Course (IMM) and Advanced Marina Management Course (AMM). Upon completion of both courses, each marina manager/operator must submit an extensive application for review and approval by the CMM/CMO review committee. This level of professional training and commitment sets each individual and their facility apart from others within the industry.

IMI offers both the IMM and AMM courses twice a year and adds courses based upon need. Most recently, IMI added a course in December in partnership with our affiliate partner, Boating BC [British Columbia]. This course was held in Nanaimo, BC and trained 15 marina managers from the area. “It was great to take our IMM course to the west coast and to our friends in Canada. The course was very well received, and we hope to have sparked interest with marina managers in the area so that we can head back in the future.”

IMI is currently offering the IMM course, February 17-21, 2019, in Charleston, South Carolina, U.S. The AMM course runs a week later, from February 24 – March 1, 2019, also in Charleston. As well, we added an IMM course for June 23-27, 2019, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
