Mercury Racing, a division of Brunswick Corporation (NYSE:BC) and leading provider of high-performance marine propulsion systems, wrapped up the fund-matching portion of its Hurricane Ian Relief Program.

Launched on Oct. 10, the two-fold fund-matching and fundraising program offered financial support to the Cape Coral Caring Center via a donation match up to $25,000 and a limited-edition Mercury Racing Hurricane Ian Relief t-shirt sale benefitting the charitable efforts of the Fort Myers Offshore Club. The entire initiative focused on providing support to the communities hardest hit by Ian—where a large portion of Mercury Racing boat builder partners, dealers and customers live and work, and where Mercury Racing has competed and participated in numerous power boat races and events.

“As news spread of our donation match, Nor-Tech Boats—one of our boat builder partners that is based in Cape Coral—stepped in and also offered to match up to $25,000 in donations made to the Cape Coral Caring Center,” shared Stuart Haley, general manager of Mercury Racing. “From there, a group of Nor-Tech’s business connections made additional contributions. We were able to work together to double the match and double the impact for a community that continues to pick up the pieces after Ian’s destruction.”

Through the Mercury Racing Hurricane Ian Relief program – with an additional match from Nor-Tech Boats – and donations from Nor-Tech’s Dealers Network, Jay Ganzi of Cape Coral Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram; Michael Richter of Ecolabs, Rick Townsend of AMG Glass, and an anonymous Nor-Tech customer, $114,983 was raised to benefit the Cape Coral Caring Center.

“It has been over a month since Hurricane Ian made landfall, however, not a day goes by that we do not see someone who lost everything and is still trying to get their lives back together,” explained Julie Ferguson, executive director of the Cape Coral Caring Center. “The need is still very real for so many, with whole communities devastated. We are so grateful to our friends at Mercury Racing and Nor-Tech for offering matching funds so we can make a difference in a deeply damaged and hurting community.”

The Cape Coral Caring Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides year-round emergency food pantry services and assists those in need to maintain a suitable standard of living during unforeseen economic situations – as well as providing basic food, shelter, and supplies during Hurricane Ian recovery efforts.

Donations to the Cape Coral Caring Center can be made year-round and the Mercury Racing Hurricane Ian Relief T-shirt will be available until the end of 2023. To donate or purchase your t-shirt, please visit bit.ly/RacingForIan.
