AkzoNobel and Axalta to be called Axanzo following merger

October 27, 2026

AkzoNobel (AKZA; AKZOY) and Axalta Coating Systems (AXTA) have announced Axanzo as the name of the combined company following completion of their intended merger.

The planned merger, announced in November 2025, will create a global coatings leader with the scale, strength and reach to accelerate sustainable growth and deliver breakthrough innovation. The envisaged post-closing NYSE and Euronext Amsterdam ticker symbol will be AXZ.

“We’re excited to announce the new name for our combined company,” says AkzoNobel CEO, Greg Poux-Guillaume, who will also be CEO of the new organization. “Axanzo signals a bold new start for a company which will be stronger in every way. It’s a launchpad for going further and faster than we ever could alone, embodying the pace and power to innovate, the strength to deliver and the excellence to succeed.”

Chris Villavarayan, CEO of Axalta, who will be Deputy CEO of the combined company, adds: “Axanzo will continuously reset the standard of what coatings can do. The new name perfectly captures our shared ambition to push boundaries, honoring our heritage and offering an exciting glimpse of what’s to come.”

The subtle, but intentional, reference to the heritage of both companies unites our legacies to usher in a new era for the industry. The combined business will bring together a diversified and balanced portfolio of around 100 highly regarded and trusted brands across paints and coatings, spanning more than 160 countries.

“Axanzo will focus on delivering uncompromising performance to sharpen our competitive edge, while establishing a profitable and sustainable path forward as a world leader in coatings,” adds Poux-Guillaume. “By forging our expertise, the best of each of us will become the standard for all of us.”

Both AkzoNobel and Axalta will continue to operate as independent companies until closing which is expected in early 2027 once all regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions have been finalized. The announcement of the new name does not change how customers and partners currently work with either company. They will continue to be served by their existing teams and through the brands and relationships they know and trust.

An accident that occurs with surprising frequency to passengers and crew is falling.
