ALBERTA MARINE, CALGARY FLAMES “HERO” PROGRAM

We recently heard Cam Stefanato who wrote to Boating industry Canada about a terrific inaugural event called the ”HEROS” program for disadvantaged youth. The Calgary Flames is a very strong supporter of the local program. Steve Gower from Rapala was very involved as well and had great donations.

Coverage included a podcast of the entire afternoon, live from the lake with interviews about boating, the kids, Comries Sports Bank etc.

Cam told us, “I was invited by Greg at Alberta Marine to join him at Pine Coulee with an event that he had helped put together. The Calgary Flames have an organization that helps under privileged kids called HEROS. So,Greg got together with them, a local sports radio personality, and a few boats from the Southern AB Walleye Trail and got some kids out on the water for a day of fishing. The SAWT boat owners all took the day off work to do this. We had 4 players from the NHL come out as well, and fish in the boats with the kids. We cooked burgers, gave the kids prizes, and promoted it all on the radio with a live remote. Lund got an exceptional amount of radio publicity out of it thanks to Greg.”

Heros Program“Not only that, but Greg is now the official Southern Alberta drop point for a campaign they are having with Comrie’s Sporting Goods Bank. On the radio, over the next 6 weeks or so, they will be advertising to drop your gently used sporting goods equipment at AB Marine into the Lund Boat for your chance to win a prize. The prize will be another day of fishing on the water with Brian McGratton for the Calgary Flames and our Pro Staff Cody Earl. They are both donating their time for the cause. So again, we will be getting a lot of radio coverage with this and tied to a great cause.”Lund

“I thought I would pass this along as often we don’t hear about some of the great things that our dealers do without our knowledge. Greg does so many things for us and never has his hand out. He is a great partner.”
