“The variety and shear volume of boats that will be on displays is astounding,” says Pamela Ziwani, Show Manager – Alberta, “if you are in the market for a new watercraft, this is the best place to shop and compare prices on everything from kayaks and personal watercraft to ski boats and ocean cruisers and everything in between.”

Water sports and activities have long been a popular activity for many Albertans. The fun, freedom and serenity when you are out on the water is something that can be enjoyed by all members of the family, young or old.

If you plan on spending time casting a line or trolling the waterways in search of “the big one” The Fishin’ Hole’s Super Spring Sale is where you will find everything you need. Knowledgeable staff will be on hand to provide expert advice and ensure you have everything you need from waders and rods to lures and line.

The hunting and fishing simulators and hands on displays provided by the Alberta Hunter Education Instructor’s Association (AHEIA) Zone are sure to peak the interest of seasoned and aspiring outdoorsmen alike.

The Alberta Birds of Prey Centre presents “Bird Talks.” These sessions are engaging and highlight some of the individual stories of injured birds of prey that have been brought into the Centre, rehabilitated and released back into the wild. This is an opportunity to get up close and personal to some of the residents including various owls, a golden eagle, and hawks.

A variety of disciplines will be featured including log rolling, springboard chop, cross cut sawing and others. Bring the family, pick your favourite team and cheer them on.

In keeping with the lumberjack theme, professional chainsaw carver Kevin Lewis will be carving live at the show . Kevin is known for creating functional pieces of art that reflect his personal style. Stop in and watch the progress as the pieces come together.

The Kid’s trout fishing pond provides an opportunity for youngsters under the age of 12 to cast a line and try and catch and release a live trout. For many, this is their first time holding a rod let alone catching a fish. All proceeds go to the Calgary and Sarcee Fish and Game Associations.

Thursday, February 9th is Camo Day at the Calgary Boat and Sportsmen’s Show. Come dressed in your best camo for a chance to win cash prizes.
