The International Marina Institute (IMI), a subsidiary of the Association of Marina Industries (AMI), is working with their affiliate partner Boating BC Association to bring our much sought-after Intermediate Marina Management (IMM) Course to Nanaimo, British Columbia, December 2-6, 2018.

“I am delighted to not only be bringing the IMM course back to the West Coast but to also be bringing it to our neighbors in Canada. Education is the key to success of any business and IMI is always looking for new regions to train marina industry professionals,” said Merritt Alves, IMI training coordinator.

The IMM course is ideal for both full charge marina managers and operation managers looking to further their careers and increase their network within the marina industry with a minimum of one year of marina management experience. The IMM course is the first step toward the highly recognized Certified Marina Manager (CMM) or Certified Marina Operator (CMO) designations. Upon successful completion of the IMM course, students must then attend the Advance Marina Management (AMM) course before applying for certification

By attending the IMM course, students will be exposed to new ways of dealing with issues and challenges common throughout the marina industry. The course covers marina-specific topics including marina law, contracts, risks and liabilities, staff management, fire-and-emergency-response planning, environmental management, health and safety compliance, and the timely issue of how best to market your marina to stay competitive in today’s climate.

“We are absolutely thrilled to bring the IMM course to BC,” says Lisa Geddes, Executive Director at Boating BC. “Our industry has seen steady growth in recent years. To keep our service levels high, we need to ensure training opportunities are available close to home – and Vancouver Island, home to some of the world’s most beautiful cruising grounds, is ideal for marina operators in the Pacific Northwest.”

CMRA

As of July 1st, 2024 the embargo is lifted on the photos and information about Four Winns’ new H9 model and it is stunning!

About a month ago, I traveled to Charlevoix, MI for a special press event to introduce the H9 to a small group of journalists. The water and the weather were a bit cool but the sun was out and Lake Charlevoix was calm and the Four Winns H9 was very impressive. This is a 29-foot 11-inch luxury day boat with a 9- foot 2-inch beam and it features a fabulous expansive flat floor all the way from the bow rider area to the transom and the swim platform.
