ICOMIA is delighted to welcome the China Boat Industry & Trade Association (CBITA) as a Sustaining Member.

The China Boat Industry & Trade Association (CBITA), operating under the China Association of National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI), encompasses entities engaged in vessel research and development, manufacturing, maintenance, sales, and related services. CBITA is dedicated to advancing sectoral planning, establishing industry standards, fostering collaboration, organizing events, maintaining statistical oversight, and providing training opportunities to promote trust and structured growth within the industry. Recent initiatives have included partnerships with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and other national ministries to support yacht investment, equipment manufacturing, and offer strategic input for the “13th Five Year Plan” regarding boating industry development.

CBITA has facilitated collaboration between urban planners and domestic and international industry experts to conduct research on the yacht economy, waterfront technologies, and broader industry advancement. Its consultancy services extend to cities such as Shanghai, Guangdong, Tianjin, Chongqing, Dalian, Xiamen, Nantong, Zhuhai, among others. Furthermore, CBITA has overseen the formulation and revision of GB standards harmonized with ISO/TC188 for small craft, CCC regulations governing yachts and sailboats, new IMO lifesaving appliance requirements, SOLAS amendments, and foundational shipbuilding production criteria and evaluation methodologies.

CBITA is committed to developing an integrated industry chain for China’s boat sector, leveraging national strategies and related governmental policies aimed at advancing tourism and manufacturing.

ICOMIA CEO, Joe Lynch said “As an arm of CANSI, CBITA plays a vital role in ensuring the inclusion of China’s leisure marine industry in the country’s national maritime agenda. ICOMIA has been honoured to participate in their annual industry forums and engage with their stakeholders. I warmly welcome CBITA on behalf of all ICOMIA members.”
