MAN IN MOTION KEY SPEAKER AT BOATING BC CONFERENCE

The 2015 Boating BC Conference presented by Mercury Marine was a fantastic success with record attendance and outstanding feedback from attendees. Highlights included GE’s market update and thought-provoking presentations from Clint Mahlman COO London Drugs and Mark Schwabero, COO Brunswick Corp. Attendee’s raved about Marcus Sheridan’s easy-to-follow marketing takeaways and Rick Hansen’s inspirational story, which commanded a standing ovation.

Boating BC introduced a silent auction and 50/50 draw to raise funds for a new scholarship fund announced at the conference. $8,000 was raised to match funds contributed by partners: BRP/Evinrude, Honda Marine, Volvo Penta, Yamaha, Yanmar (Land Sea) and Mercury Marine.

Also announced was the Glenn Spartz MMT Scholarship which the new fund will be applied to. Glenn Spartz worked tirelessly to establish the new Marine Mechanical Technician program in partnership with  ITA and BCIT. A board member at Boating BC for ten years, he retired earlier in 2015.

BC Ferries: Queen of Surrey out of Commission until Jan 28th amid Proposed BC Ferries Expansion

BC Ferries vessel Queen of Surrey is expected to remain out of commission until the end of the month, according to BC Ferries.

The vessel, which has been in service for more than 40 years, was pulled from the Horseshoe Bay to Langdale service on January 1st to undergo repairs to its propulsion system.
