NEW Basic Marine Electronics Installer, Wednesday, December 9th

NMEA 2000 Training, Thursday, December 10th

New Advanced Marine Electronics Installer, Friday, December 11th

The courses run from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. with an exam given at the end of the session.
 
The Basic Marine Electronics Installer class will present the newcomer to marine electrics with the basic information to get started in this interesting and exciting area of marine service and troubleshooting. The program will explain Ohms Law • Grounds • Batteries & Battery Chargers • DC Wiring ; EMI • Coaxial Cables • Antennas • NMEA Data Interfacing; Marine VHF Radios • AIS • Displays ; Transducers • Radar • Heading Sensors

The NMEA 2000 Network Course covers the following topics: Cables • Connectors • Specifications •  Physical Planning & Documentation • Power Sources & Distribution ; Voltage Drop Calculations; Data Messages  (Parameter Group Numbers) • Connecting to Other Data Sources • Network Setup • Troubleshooting

The Advanced Marine Electronics Installer class will discusses in details: Session 1 – Computers and Ethernet Networking Computer Selection • Installation and Security • Ethernet Basics and Planning •  Wireless Networks •  Testing and Troubleshooting

Session 2 – VHF and SSB Installation Digital Selective Calling (DSC) Basics • VHF Transmission and Testing • SSB Antenna Considerations • Grounding •  SSB Transmission and Testing  

Session 3 – Antenna Arrangement and Satellite Communications Antenna Basics • Interference • Locations • Satellite System Components •  Radome Mounting • Grounding and Testing

Session 4 – Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) and Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) • AIS Basics and Classes • Installation •  Configuration • EMI Causes and Mitigation

The provincial marine associations from across the country, collectively representing over 80,000 jobs and $9.2B in national annual economic impact, announced the formation of a new national association whose mandate will be to represent the interests of recreational boating including recreational boat retailing and brokering, boat and engine & trailer sales, accessories, slip rentals, service, storage, fuel sales and more.
