ABYC MARINE CORROSION CERTIFICATIONS COURSE
ABYC’s four day Corrosion Certification course hosted by Port Credit Yacht Club, with instructor Kevin Ritz is designed and intended for those with a minimum of 3-5 years practical experience in the marine field. It is highly recommended that certification candidates already have ABYC electrical certification before attempting the corrosion certification program. It is presumed by the course content that candidates have a reasonable understanding of basic concepts such as electrical grounding, electrical current flow, galvanic isolation and basic marine electrical terminology.

PARTNERSHIP WITH INTERNATIONAL MARITIME RESCUE FEDERATION
McMurdo Group has announced its commitment to International Maritime Rescue Federation (IMRF) by becoming the first search and rescue technologies and solutions provider to join the Federation. The group’s aim is to increase global awareness of the needs of marine mass rescue and help coordinate action to prevent the loss of life in the world’s waters.

BAVARIA AT THE BOOT IN DÜSSELDORF – POSITIVE NEWS
BAVARIA already had plenty of positive news to announce at mid-week of the Boot Düsseldorf 2015. The CRUISER 46 won the coveted “European Yacht of the Year” award for sailing yachts, the SPORT 450 celebrated its world premiere with a large baptism, and the new service system BAVARIA+ attracted the attention of visitors and the press.

IBEX WINS A MARINE MARKETERS OF AMERICA NEPTUNE AWARD
IBEX, The International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition & Conference received a Neptune Award for Marine Industry Marketing Excellence from the Marine Marketers of America (MMA) for their Summer Series email campaign. The 7th Annual Award winners were announced today in Miami during the National Marine Manufacturers Association’s (NMMA) Industry Breakfast at the Miami International Boat Show. The 2014 Neptune Awards recognize creativity and innovation in the marine marketing field.

THE JEANNEAU 64 – YOU GOTTA SEE IT TO BELIEVE IT
Just about a year ago, I took a trip to France to the town of Le Poiré Sur Vie in theVendee region to see the first 64 being built. As you can easily imagine, building a 64 foot sailing yacht is not exactly a small accomplishment and in fact due to the dip in the economy, the project had been started and stopped more than once. Seeing the boat for the first time had been impressive. Construction had been about two-thirds of the way along and while the deck had not yet been installed, a good part of the interior had been.

RESULTS FROM THE ABBRA 2014 COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS SURVEY NOW AVAILABLE
Results from the American Boat Builders & Repairers Association (ABBRA) 2014 Compensation and Benefits Survey are now available. Survey data was collected from ABBRA members nationwide (USA), along with local marine trade associations’ members, and additional participants from the marina and boatyard industry. The report entitled the ABBRA Compensation and Benefits Benchmark Study serves as a valuable resource for employers in the boatyard, marine service, and repair sectors to gauge rates, salaries, and benefits in the current employment market. It also ensures that employees and independent contractors are obtaining the correct compensation for their work.

AQUILA POWER CATAMARANS ARRIVING IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST
Sceptre Multihulls and its sister company Cooper Boating are pleased to announce their exclusive dealer agreement with Sino Eagle Yacht Company for the Aquila Power Catamaran line of luxury multihull boats. The agreement allows Sceptre the territorial, exclusive rights, to market and distribute the Aquila line of Power Catamarans to Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and Alaska. By extension, Cooper shall continue to pioneer instructional programs and offer charters for these fabulous new vessels. An exchange model for yacht owners to trade time with sisterships in the Caribbean is icing on this fresh new cake.
