2015 OTTAWA BOAT AND SPORTSMEN’S SHOW RELEASES POST SHOW RESULTS AND EXHIBITOR FEEDBACK
The 2015 Ottawa Boat & Sportsmen’s Show celebrated its 40th anniversary this year with over 250 boats on the show floor, a dedicated area to the sports fishing community, and exciting interactive features. This event kicked off the boat buying season for exhibitors and boating enthusiasts, welcoming over 20,000 visitors Exhibitors noted that attendees were engaged buyers which provided strong sales leads over the course of the four day event.

NEW BUILDER FOR SONAR
The International Sonar Class is pleased to announce that Shumway Marine, with the cooperation of designer Bruce Kirby has made arrangements to have the Sonar built by Rondar Race Boats in the U.K., with plans eventually to have the boat built on both sides of the ocean. The American Rondar facility is in Peabody, MA.

RECENT ACTIONS BOLSTER NMEA 0400 INSTALLATION STANDARD
Two recent moves have expanded the utility and reach of the NMEA 0400 Installation Standard. Following years of discussion with the US Coast Guard regarding Automatic Identification System (AIS) installations, the NMEA Installation Standard (Version 3.10) is now referenced under US law. In a separate action, the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) offered to include their ABYC E-11 Electrical Standard as an appendix in NMEA 0400.

IBEX, THE INTERNATIONAL BOATBUILDERS’ EXHIBITION & CONFERENCE NAMED FASTEST 50 GROWING TRADE SHOW
Trade Show Executive Magazine has named IBEX, The International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition & Conference to the Fastest 50 Class of 2014. IBEX received recognition in two categories: growth in the number of exhibitors and growth in attendance. Plans are fully underway for the growth to continue for the 2015 event, taking place at the Louisville Convention Center in Kentucky, September 15-17, 2015.

ABYC MARINE CORROSION CERTIFICATIONS COURSE
ABYC’s four day Corrosion Certification course hosted by Port Credit Yacht Club, with instructor Kevin Ritz is designed and intended for those with a minimum of 3-5 years practical experience in the marine field. It is highly recommended that certification candidates already have ABYC electrical certification before attempting the corrosion certification program. It is presumed by the course content that candidates have a reasonable understanding of basic concepts such as electrical grounding, electrical current flow, galvanic isolation and basic marine electrical terminology.
