FAREWELL TO CHRIS CUDDY
The boating community would like to extend its condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Christopher (Chris) Cuddy who passed away on Tuesday June 3, 2014. Chris worked at various marinas including Marina Quay West, Toronto Island Marina, Peterborough Marina, and most recently Port Elgin Harbour in 2013. -

BRUNSWICK BOAT GROUP & MERCURY MARINE LEND THEIR SUPPORT TO NMMA IN THE FIGHT AGAINST E15
Brunswick Boat Group and Mercury Marine are encouraging boaters and dealers to follow the lead of the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI) and the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) as they continue to advocate the “Look Before You Pump” campaign aimed at the prevention of E15 in marine engines. E15 is gasoline that contains 15 percent ethanol and is extremely harmful to marine engines. -

MARTYRS’ SHRINE CELEBRATES THE SECOND ANNUAL BLESSING OF BOATS & WATERWAYS
The second annual Blessing of Boats & Waterways was hosted on Saturday June 7th at the town docks in Midland. The event saw 28 boats take part in the blessing. The Martyrs’ Shrine worked closely with Parkbridge Marinas to organize the celebration in time for the beginning of the boating season. Father Bernard Carroll, SJ of the Martyrs’ Shrine carried out the duties of the blessing while standing upon the bow of a 65’ Linwood Huckins yacht, W.F. Morneau’s “LaBelle Helene.” The occasion was made all that much better because we were blessed with a beautiful sunny day. ETOBICOKE YACHT CLUB HONOURS HANS FOGH
Etobicoke Yacht Club has christened its new race committee boat in honour of the late Hans Fogh. Fogh a long standing member of Etobicoke Yacht Club raced both Etchells and Solings from the Toronto-based sailing harbour. A hands-on grass roots club and one of the most active on the Great Lakes, EYC has a great reputation for giving back to the sport.

The International BoatBuilders' Exhibition and Conference (IBEX), taking place September 29 – October 2, 2014 at the Tampa Convention Center, has announced that the show floor is sold out. The event will host 510 exhibitors, of which 102 are new for 2014, on a show floor that will be nearly 100,000 square feet of exhibit space, dock space, and on-the-water demonstrations, three new pavilions, and special feature areas including The Connected Boat and Material Connexion. -

TED GOZZARD – June 13, 1933 to May 15, 2014
Ted Gozzard is described as a traditionalist, a firm believer in quality and craftsmanship. Raised in Sheffield, England, Ted apprenticed as a carpenter-joiner and gradually earned his journeyman’s papers in boat building, masonry and carpentry. When Ted came to Ontario he worked in the construction business in London, Ontario and designed and supervised the construction of homes and subdivisions there. In his spare time he had built and was sailing a much modified Thunderbird.

CANADA’S TITANIC: THE EMPRESS OF IRELAND OPENING AND COMMEMORATIVE STAMP UNVEILING
Maritime Museum of BC is hosting with Canada Post and Salvation Army representation to unveil the stamp. Also, several Empress of Ireland notables including collector Chris Klausen will be at the event. Bruce Ivany, a local resident and descendant of an Empress of Ireland survivor will cut ribbon officially opening the gallery.
