VIBS UPBEAT WITH STRONG ATTENDANCE AND SALES IN NEW TIME SLOT
With steady attendance, motivated shoppers, reports of strong boat and retail sales plus unseasonably sunny weather to keep everyone smiling, the 2014 Vancouver International Boat Show apparently marked another positive milestone for the West Coast boating market. This year VIBS moved to a new late-January slot from its traditional dates in early February, which conflicted with BC’s new Family Day long weekend. The new dates followed the Toronto International Boat Show closely and coincided with the opening weekend of the Seattle Boat Show, resulting in some notable absences in Vancouver as exhibitors were unable to overcome timing conflicts for displays and staff.

2014 TORONTO INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW CLOSES ON A HIGH NOTE
The final weekend crowds seemed noticeably stronger and our opinion is that the 2014 Toronto International Boat Show closed on a high note, but the mid-week attendance seemed quiet to most exhibitors that we interviewed. Those exhibitors who were selling impulse purchase items, clothing and recreational accessories felt the effect of reduced numbers of people in the aisles. A nice feature for exhibitors is that the boat show organizers share a running tally of boats that are reported to have been sold at the show and check back with us later this week for those numbers.
