Paris Marine Celebrates 80 Years of Family Boating in the Kawartha Lakes

June 9, 2026

On June 3rd, 2026, Paris Marine, one of Ontario’s most awarded boat dealerships, proudly celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2026, marking eight decades of helping families across the Kawartha Lakes experience the joy of boating. Founded in 1946, the family-owned business has grown from humble beginnings into a trusted destination for boat sales, service, and boating expertise.

This milestone represents more than just years in operation. It reflects generations of boating families served, thousands of boats delivered, and a continued commitment to providing everything customers need to enjoy life at the lake.

Paris Marine’s story began in 1946 when Jack Paris founded Jack Paris Marine and Real Estate in Young’s Point, Ontario, initially selling small wooden boats and outboard motors. As boating grew in popularity across the Kawartha Lakes region, the business expanded and moved to its current location in 1958, where it continues to serve customers today.

Over the decades, Paris Marine has remained a family-owned dealership spanning three generations, with leadership passing from founder Jack Paris to his son Bill Paris and today to President Deborah Paris, who continues to guide the company’s vision while maintaining its strong community roots.

Today, Paris Marine is recognized as a full-service marine dealership, offering boat sales, service, parts and accessories, storage, canvas and upholstery services, and educational boating programs. Located in Peterborough, Ontario, the dealership serves boaters across the Kawartha Lakes including Clear Lake, Stoney Lake, Chemong Lake, Buckhorn Lake, Rice Lake, and surrounding waterways.

“Reaching 80 years in business is an incredible milestone and a reflection of the families, staff, and customers who have supported us along the way,” said Deborah Paris, President of Paris Marine. “Boating has always been about bringing people together. Our mission remains the same today as it was in 1946: helping families create lasting memories on the water.”

To celebrate the anniversary, Paris Marine plans to host a series of special events and community initiatives throughout 2026, highlighting the dealership’s history, showcasing new boating innovations, and thanking the customers and community partners who have supported the business over the decades.

As Paris Marine looks toward the future, the company remains focused on continuing its legacy of exceptional customer service, innovative marine products, and helping the next generation discover the boating lifestyle.

After 80 years, the message remains simple: boating starts with Paris Marine.https://www.parismarine.com

Good Advice that You Can Share – The Art of Anchoring

Unless a boat is secured, it will drift away. If it cannot be attached to something secure, such as a dock, piling, mooring buoy, tree, or boulder, it must be anchored. There is much more to anchoring than simply tossing the anchor over the side.

An anchoring system has two parts: the anchor itself and the rode which connects the anchor to the boat. To be effective, an anchor must have good holding power, and the rode must be strong enough to withstand the strains that are put on it.
