SEA RAY® INTRODUCES GAME-CHANGING WAKE SURFING BOAT

Sea Ray SLX-W 230

Jan 3, 2017

Consider the game changed: Sea Ray introduces the brand-new SLX-W 230, a luxury wake sports boat powered by a Mercury Marine V-Drive propulsion system that’s rewriting all the rules. The new SLX-W combines remarkable wake-shaping capabilities with thoughtful amenities for all-day coving and comfortable cruising.

“This is the ideal boat for active families seeking to maximize their time on the water,” said Brad Anderson, Sea Ray president of sport boats and sport cruisers. “We started with Sea Ray’s unique dedication to Orchestrated Excellence, then added a thrilling new wake surfing technology design to achieve the perfect boat for wake sports, coving and cruising. The SLX-W delivers pure enjoyment with nothing sacrificed and we’re calling it -Orchestrated Adventure.”

True to its SLX name, and unlike traditional tow boats, the SLX-W 230 features a deep-V hull design, joystick piloting capability, a submersible swim step, Dynamic Display™, standard watersports tower and premium fit and finish.

The SLX-W features Sea Ray’s precision-engineered, deep-V wake-hull design — honed during hundreds of hours of development and testing, and comes standard with Dynamic Running Surface™ for an incredibly smooth ride and predictable handling.

At the helm, advanced technology, including Dynamic Display™, provides easy viewing for the captain and intuitive command of wake sports functions. Pre-sets for wakeboarding and surfing fill the 2,000 pounds of ballast to the appropriate level and set the underwater gear for the perfect wave. What’s more, the ballast system is entirely contained within the hull, a sophisticated solution that doesn’t consume valuable storage space.

The SLX-W 230 offers a fully integrated joystick control that utilizes the engine and thrusters to make maneuverability of the boat much easier and more intuitive than ever before. “During the research phase of this project, customers were very clear about how difficult it was to maneuver traditional tow boats in close quarters such as around docks or when picking up surfers,” Anderson said. “Working with Mercury Marine, we’re introducing a wake sports boat that makes it easy to dock in any condition and spin on a dime to pick-up a fallen surfer more quickly.”

The cockpit is spacious and inviting, with a reversible companion helm seat and U-shaped seating, perfect for spending time with friends & family or keeping an eye on the surfer behind the boat. Attention to detail is unwavering; luxury elements include modern contrast-stitch upholstery and soft-touch surfaces. Intuitive storage placement throughout the boat, including transom trunk storage for boards, is designed to accommodate loads of personal belongings and gear.

A functional and stylish forward-folding tower can be paired with board racks and optional tower speakers. Aft, a wide, center walk-through transom makes the water accessible for everyone. Paired with an optional submersible swim step, it’s easier than ever to get in and out of the water for enthusiasts of all ages.

“With its incredible versatility, superior fit and finish, unprecedented wake technology and easy maneuverability – courtesy of Mercury’s joystick piloting technology – the SLX-W fulfills a bold new vision for wake sports capability,” said Anderson. “The wave of the future is here.”

The official World Premiere of the SLX-W 230 will be at the Atlanta Boat Show, Jan. 12-15, 2017, with additional appearances throughout the 2017 boat show season.  For more information and to view the Sea Ray line-up, please visit searay.com.

The water and the weather were a bit cool but the sun was out and Lake Charlevoix was calm and the Four Winns H9 was very impressive. This is a 29-foot 11-inch luxury day boat with a 9- foot 2-inch beam and it features a fabulous expansive flat floor all the way from the bow rider area to the transom and the swim platform.
