Solid State Marine Receives NMMA Innovation Award at IBEX 2025 for New 36V120ah 6TL Battery

November 11, 2025

Solid State Marine, manufacturer of innovative, high-performance solid-state battery solutions for the maritime market, announced that its paradigm shifting, high-performance solid-state battery, the new 36V120ah 6TL, has been awarded the 2025 International Boat Builders Exhibition & Conference (IBEX) Innovation Award in the Electrical Systems category.

Organized by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and judged by members of Boating Writers International (BWI), the awards recognize innovative distinction from other products currently being manufactured, benefit to the marine industry and consumers, practicality and cost-effectiveness.

Bringing the only solid-state power storage solutions on the market, Solid State Marine and its new 36V120ah 6TL offers boaters a revolutionary battery with higher power, lighter weight in a safer package than those currently available. The research and development took over 10 years of testing and 2 years of field tests to bring this to the market. The patented technology uses a completely solid electrolyte to conduct lithium ions, significantly reducing the distance between the cathode and anode and avoiding heavy and often volatile liquids or gels like those found in lead-acid- or lithium-ion-based products. This results in roughly half the weight of traditional lithium and a quarter of the weight of AGM batteries with reduced fire or combustion risk for the ultimate peace of mind.

“We’re very grateful to the NMMA, BWI and the judges for selecting the new 36V120ah 6TL Battery for the coveted IBEX Innovation Award,” said Tom Calef, CEO, Solid State Marine. “Bringing a completely new battery technology to the market is no simple task, especially in a demanding environment such as marine. We’re very proud of our ability at Solid State Marine to bring a range of products to market that will alter the boating experience forever.”

“Solid State Marine has developed a new lithium-ion battery that captures the electrolyte in a solid form,” said Tim Murphy, Innovation Award Judge. “The result is a battery with 50% more power density than lithium-iron-phosphate chemistry. Able to deliver high amperage and take high charging current, there’s no longer a house battery and a cranking battery; there’s just one battery.”
