Newport International Boat Show to Debut All-New Fishing Village
September 8, 2026
The Newport International Boat Show announced today the debut of its Fishing Village presented by Tashmoo Boatworks, an immersive experience created for anglers and fishing enthusiasts of all ages and levels as part of the 2026 showgoer experience September 17–20 along the historic downtown Newport waterfront.
A longtime staple of the Martha’s Vineyard fishing community, the Tashmoo has been an iconic vessel in the region for more than 40 years, making Tashmoo Boatworks a natural fit to present the Fishing Village and help bring this new experience to life at the Newport International Boat Show. Tashmoo first debuted at the Newport International Boat Show in the 1980s, and the company is thrilled to return this fall to unveil the latest versions of its signature 18 model.
The Fishing Village, presented by Tashmoo Boatworks, will bring together leading fishing brands, industry experts, educational programming and interactive experiences in one dedicated destination. Designed for everyone from seasoned anglers to those just discovering the sport, the new experience will give showgoers opportunities to explore the latest boats, tackle, accessories, marine electronics and fishing innovations while learning new techniques and putting their skills into practice. Access to the Fishing Village is included with general Show admission and located on the southside of the Show near Tent-G and the Windward VIP Lounge.
“The Newport International Boat Show has always been about creating opportunities for people to enjoy every aspect of life on the water, and the Fishing Village adds an exciting new dimension to that experience,” said Lisa Knowles, Show Director for the Newport International Boat Show. “Fishing is such an integral part of the boating lifestyle in New England and beyond, and we wanted to create a destination where experienced anglers, newcomers and families could come together to learn, try something new and connect with the brands and experts who make the sport so special. From hands-on casting to expert seminars and the latest fishing gear and technology, there will be something for everyone to discover.”
At the center of the new experience will be exhibits featuring boats, tackle, accessories, electronics and other products designed for anglers. Participating companies currently include Dragonfly Boatworks, The Qualified Captain, Tashmoo Boatworks, Tufftide Marine, Swiftloc LLC, M32, Dinnteco Atlantic Marine Electronics, The Saltwater Edge, Zack’s Custom Rods, Shimano, Simms and East Coast Spreader Bars.
The Fishing Village will also feature a Fishing Education Center, presented by The Saltwater Edge, offering complimentary seminars and technology demonstrations throughout the weekend focused on using side-scan sonar to locate bass on structure, seminars covering tackle and tactics for false albacore, bluefin tuna and bottom fishing, and presentations focused on fly fishing. Captain Mike Hogan and additional experts from The Saltwater Edge are among those scheduled to lead educational sessions during the Show.
For attendees looking to put what they learn into practice, the Fishing Village will include a 50-foot Casting Pond, presented by Tashmoo Boatworks. The interactive attraction will host live demos with Garmin and Minn Kota Trolling Motors and hands-on opportunities throughout the weekend including fly casting clinics. Whether picking up a fly rod for the first time or working to refine an established casting technique, participants will be able to learn directly from experienced instructors in an approachable setting.
The 2026 Newport International Boat Show will be held Thursday, September 17 through Sunday, September 20, with Show hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
