Oct 17, 2023

Sea Ray is advancing its premium SLX line and attracting attention out on the water with the launch of the new SLX 280. In the wake of the SLX 280 Outboard’s debut, Sea Ray is continuing the evolution of the model family with a sterndrive variation, giving boaters the opportunity to choose their preferred type of propulsion. Like the SLX 280 Outboard, the stylish SLX 280 features a luxurious interior, effortless performance, improved seating, convenient storage and innovative technologies for an elevated on-water experience.

“Earlier this year, we released the SLX 280 Outboard which was met with positive reviews from our dealers, media and boaters,” said Keith Yunger, Sea Ray president. “Now with the launch of the SLX 280, we’re excited to introduce consumers to the sterndrive variant of this new model, as we continue to expand and develop the next generation of the SLX Series.”

Expertly crafted with Sea Ray’s signature sleek and modern design elements, the yacht-certified SLX 280 has an overall length of 28 feet, eight inches and an expansive cockpit optimized for space and comfort. It includes deep ergonomic seating and storage areas that seamlessly blend into the environment. The transom locker and floor compartment can be used to store inflatables and gear, and a compartment under the transom sunpad can be filled with ice for an integrated cooler. For added convenience, the cockpit can be upgraded with a drawer-style refrigerator and an end table offering an inductive charging station, dry-storage compartment and cup holders.

Encouraging carefree relaxation, the plush U-shaped bow seating creates a luxurious place to recline with lounge-style seating, and the broad transom sunpad presents an enticing spot to soak up the sun. When it is time for a refreshing dip in the water, the swim platform with an optional submersible step provides seamless access. To keep boaters cool, the optional Power Tower offers a sporty canvas top and an extendable sunshade. For easy storage, the tower can be electrically lowered or raised.

Equipped for remarkable power and performance, the SLX 280 is propelled by a 350-horsepower Mercury® MerCruiser® 6.2L MPI ECT engine with a Bravo Three® drive, SmartCraft® technology and Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS) controls. The helm delivers simplified captaining with a dual Digital Dash featuring standard 9″ Simrad® NSX® touchscreen displays and SmartCraft Connect for intuitive engine monitoring. Providing entertainment out on the waves, the Fusion® stereo system at the helm puts music controls easily within reach. Available with the Entertainment Bundle, inductive charging stations located near the helm and companion seats ensure that phones stay powered up for all-day fun.

Aboard the SLX 280, peak performance and impeccable style flawlessly blend with upscale amenities and intelligent technologies. For a personalized touch, boaters can choose to upgrade their SLX 280 with bundle packages to complement their needs and lifestyle. Selections include Anchor, Comfort, Entertainment, Essentials, Lighting and Water System Bundles.

The SLX 280 is available now for order in North America. Timing for international availability to follow. For more information about Sea Ray and to view the complete lineup, visit SeaRay.com.
