ePropulsion Americas, a global leader in electric marine propulsion systems and services, proudly announces that its co-founder and CEO, Danny Tao, has been named in Fortune China’s 2025 “40 Under 40” list, recognizing influential and visionary young leaders shaping the future of business.

This year, the Fortune China “40 Under 40” celebrates innovators who are reshaping industries in an era that bridges the “digital native” and “intelligent native” worlds. The 2025 list showcases leaders harnessing human ingenuity and transformative technologies to create sustainable solutions, with trailblazers making significant advances in artificial intelligence, green technology, healthcare innovation, smart manufacturing and consumer industries, driving change in China and influencing the global economy.

Tao’s selection reflects his pioneering work in driving the marine industry’s transition from fossil fuels to clean electric propulsion. His vision for a sustainable maritime future began over a decade ago while studying mechanical engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Witnessing the environmental impact of traditional marine engines, Tao saw an opportunity to combine advanced electric motor technology with the boating industry’s need for cleaner, more efficient solutions.

In 2012, together with a group of like-minded university peers, Tao co-founded ePropulsion with the mission of making boating more sustainable without compromising performance. From its first prototype electric outboard motor to a comprehensive portfolio of outboards, pod drives and inboard systems, ePropulsion has grown into a globally recognized brand with customers in over 100 countries.

Under Tao’s leadership, the company has expanded its research and development capabilities, built an international distribution network and set new industry standards for performance, reliability and environmental stewardship. Today, ePropulsion solutions are widely adopted in leisure, commercial and governmental applications, advancing the global marine industry towards a zero-emission future.

“This honor belongs to the entire ePropulsion team and is a recognition of our decade-long commitment to innovation and excellence,” said Tao. “The electrification and digital transformation of shipping are irreversible trends. ePropulsion will continue to advance core technologies, expand our global presence, and, together with our partners, deliver greener and smarter boating experiences for users worldwide while contributing to the shared goal of global carbon neutrality.”
