Aceleron brings ‘world first’ LFP battery to METSTRADE 2022

Aceleron Essential Battery

Oct 10, 2022

Repairable, upgradeable and with bluetooth capabilities, Aceleron brings a ‘world first’ LFP battery to METSTRADE 2022.

Clean technology firm Aceleron has designed and built a unique battery that can be taken apart for maintenance, repair and upgrade over time. Unlike the vast majority of batteries, where when one part fails, the entire unit needs to be replaced, the Essential 2.0 has a potentially infinite lifespan.

The battery has been built with the purpose of eliminating any unnecessary waste of the raw materials used to build batteries, providing users with access to a more cost-effective and sustainable power source.

Why the Essential 2.0 works so well for the marine industry

A group-31 standalone LFP battery, it is equipped with a BMS that now boasts bluetooth and CanBus (via RS485) connectivity, enabling local, on vessel network and remote monitoring capabilities. This means performance parameters such as charge/discharge, number of cycles and internal temperature can all be monitored remotely – ensuring onboard battery power is the safest it can possibly be.

The state-of-the-art casing is ideal for the marine market thanks to its ergonomically designed carry handle, rubber feet (to ensure stability) and the option to safely position it in multiple orientations. Its cobalt free Lithium Iron Phosphate technology means that it is two times lighter than a typical lead acid-battery – ideal for the marine industry where space can be limited and ease of installation/removal important.

Environmental performance

To ensure that no part of an Aceleron battery will be wasted, removed parts are redistributed for use in other products, made into second life products for a different application, or sent for individual recycling. This gives each part an extended lifespan with minimal environmental impact.

Bruce Macpherson, Chief Commercial Officer said, “Aceleron’s design is a truly forward-thinking approach that more businesses will hopefully adopt as the world evaluates what can be done to reduce our harmful impact on the environment.

“We are really looking forward to showing the marine industry the potential this battery has to meet a vessel’s power needs, reducing operational costs whilst preserving our oceans from the harmful effects of battery waste.”

Reaching 200A+ peak power and guaranteed for 5,000 cycles, the Essential 2.0 is available in 12v, 24v and 48v configurations. If required, multiple batteries can be connected together to achieve more than 2,000 Ah capacity.

Aceleron will be exhibiting at METSTRADE
