Bay Sails Beefs Up Fast Service in Toronto

March 31, 2026

For many of the sailors in Toronto who like the work and results delivered by Bay Sails, the philosophy has recently been “It’s worth the drive to Hamilton”. Starting on April 1, that drive won’t be necessary thanks to Bay Sails’ new Toronto service team headed by Brooks Robitaille who will coordinate immediate pick-up and delivery for customers who need repairs or other service on an express turnaround basis.

The idea is the modern approach, like Uber Eats. Bay Sails will come right to the customer’s boat or club, pick up the sails, manage the repairs and return them for the next race or weekend cruise.

For Bay Sails, it makes a lot of sense, too. “Our loft is well established here in Hamilton. We couldn’t provide what we do if we had to locate in Toronto – the cost of renting a suitable facility and the increased cost of living for our staff would put us out of business, just as it has several now-defunct Toronto lofts,” explains Keven Piper”

A simple concept

Here’s how it will work: Every Monday, Robitaille and crew will make a run from the east end of Toronto through downtown, Etobicoke, and Port Credit to pick up sails for delivery to the Hamilton facility where the equipment and people are in place to repair and replace sails to a high standard of design and execution.  On Friday, the sails are repaired and the run reveres so everyone is ready to go for the weekend.

Further, adding service in the area where the majority of boats are located means that Bay Sails’ capacity to accommodate custom requests is hugely expanded. We can now do lot of work that customers really need including:

  • Stripping and installing sails
  • Tuning and fitting rigging
  • Installing roller furl systems and low-friction UHMW mainsail track to make hoisting easier
  • Consulting on sail condition and deck layout
  • Measurement and quotes for new sails

Keven Piper is an internationally recognized designer with impressive racing credentials so when his skills are required, he can come into the situation to address complex situations. In the meantime, prompt, reliable attention to sails is easily accomplished with an email or phone call.

Customers can contact Bay Sails at 905-529-7245, baysails.ca or, for Toronto customers, dockside@baysails.ca, Phone: 519-217-0494
