EnerSys® (NYSE:ENS), a global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications and the manufacturer of ODYSSEY® batteries, announces the availability of its ODYSSEY® Performance Series™ 4D-1300 and 8D-1500 batteries. The ODYSSEY® Performance Series™ 4D-1300 and 8D-1500 batteries are engineered to power heavy duty commercial vehicles and marine applications.

The ODYSSEY® Performance Series™ 4D-1300 battery provides engine-cranking pulses up to 2,400 amps and 1,300 Cold Cranking Amps (CCA). The ODYSSEY® Performance Series™ 8D-1500 battery provides engine-cranking pulses up to 2,700 amps and 1,500 Cold Cranking Amps (CCA). Both batteries feature Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology, as well as Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) separators that hold acid in place to prevent spills, even when installed on their sides.

Odyssey Battery Logo“The ODYSSEY® Performance Series™ 4D-1300 and 8D-1500 batteries provide heavy duty and marine applications with a reliable AGM solution designed to meet the power demands of these vehicles,” said Alan Kohler, Transportation and Specialty Marketing Manager at EnerSys. “The TPPL technology combined with the ability to resist extreme vibration leads to a solution offering longer life over conventional batteries.”

TPPL technology is applied to the manufacturing of flat plates made of 99.99 percent pure lead, not lead alloy. These pure lead plates are made thinner, enabling more to fit in the battery for increased plate surface area. The additional surface area enables TPPL batteries to generate more power as well as provide longer service life, greater reliability and deep-cycle capabilities.
