FLOW-RITE SOLVES BATTERY-FILLING WOES

Flo-Rite Battery Filling

Jan 12, 2021

Battery banks are often hard to reach, so when electrolyte levels drop and it’s time to add water to them, it can be a chore. Flow-Rite’s innovative Pro-Fill Onboard Battery Watering System makes it fast and easy to perform this routine maintenance. Made in the USA, it’s a valve manifold that attaches to the battery fill ports and is plumbed to a feed tube. Once connected to an external water supply, it’s simply a matter of filling all cells at once, no matter the water pressure.

The primary concern with adding water to a battery is safety. Pro-Fill valves include a built-in water barrier and flame arrestor. These block the propagation of a flame front from entering adjacent cells in the event of accidental cell gas ignition. Plus, the system has zero chance of acid splash. It is the safest battery watering system available.

Installing the Pro-Fill Onboard Battery Watering System is straightforward. After donning proper PPE, the user removes and replaces the battery vent caps with a Pro-Fill valve manifold assembly. Each valve has a uniquely-designed winged cap for easy installation. Integrated protective shrouds safeguard the displacer from potential damage from plate growth or accidental knocks. Built-in de-gas chambers allow the cell to expel naturally-occurring hydrogen and oxygen gases in a manner that dilutes them with the outside air, reducing the risk of ignition.
Flow-Rite’s Pro-Fill Onboard Battery Watering System is engineered to fit a wide range of 6-, 8- and 12-volt batteries with standard cell spacing. For unusual cell configurations, a flexible manifold is available.

Each battery requires one manifold assembly. Connected, up to eight units fill at the same time in less than 60 seconds.

A three-port swivel tee on top of the manifold rotates 360° and has an easy-in, hard-out design that protects the O-ring. Clampless tubing makes connecting manifolds quick. The system’s fill tube is connected to the center of the manifold array for water to dispense evenly. Red end caps are placed over any remaining open barbs. A video is atbit.ly/Pro-Fill-Install.

With Pro-Fill’s patented technology, expensive water supply equipment isn’t needed to generate high pressure and flow. The variable pressure system works from 3 to 35 psi (static) with a minimum flow rate of 2 gpm.

Flow-Rite’s Pro-Fill Onboard Battery Watering System is manufactured to rigorous ISO 9001:2008 standards. All components are made from acid-, temperature- and impact-resistant polypropylene for durability and long service life. It comes with a five-year warranty; in the United States systems start at $64.99 USD that fit two six-volt batteries.

Good Advice that You Can Share – The Art of Anchoring

Unless a boat is secured, it will drift away. If it cannot be attached to something secure, such as a dock, piling, mooring buoy, tree, or boulder, it must be anchored. There is much more to anchoring than simply tossing the anchor over the side.

An anchoring system has two parts: the anchor itself and the rode which connects the anchor to the boat. To be effective, an anchor must have good holding power, and the rode must be strong enough to withstand the strains that are put on it.
