Fishing is Safer with DC Electric Reel Systems

DC Electric Reel Systems

May 20, 2025

Large DC-powered electric fishing reel systems are often dangerously connected to a 12V battery or plugged into a non-marine-grade receptacle. A safer alternative is the Electric Fishing Reel Device from Hubbell Marine. The 30A 28V DC device has a unique configuration that ensures it can’t accidentally be plugged into an AC power supply that would create a dangerous scenario.

The Electric Fishing Reel Device includes a locking plug, female connector and weatherproof plate to keep water out and electricity safely flowing.  UL-listed and CSA certified, the device incorporates anti-corrosive nickel-plated contacts and stainless-steel hardware for long-term use. All parts are constructed from UV-stabilized nylon for a longer life in the harsh marine environment.

Offered in high-visibility yellow, the system is easily detected, even in adverse conditions. It features Hubbell’s compact Twist-Lock® design to minimize accidental disengagement or loss of power from stress on the cord, typical vessel vibration or from being bumped. For exposed installation locations, an optional Hubbell outlet box and weatherproof spring-loaded lift cover safeguard against water ingress. Hubbell Marine’s Electric Fishing Reel Devices have a starting price of $44.
