MARINE REPAIR KIT ALLOWS EQUIPMENT AND STRUCTURAL REPAIRS

Stronghold Repair Kit

Dec 19, 2017

A new marine repair kit includes a variety of Stronghold Coatings products which allow users to quickly effect equipment and structural repairs, thus keeping workboats productive while at sea. The kit includes PlasticMetal for the repair of all types of metal, MM1018 which when applied to baseplates, allows deck machinery to be repaired and repositioned without the need for re-alignment, RepaCoat for repair and sealing of metal, wood, stone, and elastic surfaces, and StopSand which allows sure footing on all surfaces, as well as items to clean surfaces, mix and apply the materials. These time-saving repair products are packaged in a durable plastic carrying case for easy transport and storage. Proven Stronghold products are ideal for all types of marine vessels, including workboats, barges, ferries, military and commercial passenger ships, and more.

MM1018 is a polymeric metal material that provides 100% force fit gap compensation for the repair of all types of deck machinery for workboats. When applied to the baseplates of deck machinery like winches, cranes, capstans, cable laying equipment and more, MM1018 allows the equipment to be repaired and re-positioned without having to re-align, saving time and money. This high-performance repair product provides 100% volume restoration inside the gap between bearing and construction without machining of back plate and face plate. It combines high compressive and shear strength, excellent vibration damping, and long-term corrosion protection in extreme service conditions (vibration, temperature extremes, etc.), and is resistant to weathering and aging, as well as gasoline, oils, coolants, acids, lye and more.

PlasticMetal is the industry’s first two-component repair technology that can be mixed in various ratios for small and medium repairs to many types of metal. Unlike pre-mixed polymers which have a set viscosity, this unique resin and powdered metal system can be mixed in small quantities in thicknesses to suit particular application requirements. Whether used as a putty, paste or liquid, it yields high compression and tensile strength, and bonds to all metals. This fast-curing compound can be machined after hardening, making it ideal for the repair of defects, pin holes, blow holes and porosity in castings, and to repair machining errors and wear areas in cast iron, steel, aluminum and other alloys. It is highly resistant to physical and thermal stresses, including high chemical resistance, and temperature resistant to 250 C (482 F) continuous. With 12 formulations including those for cast iron, steel, aluminum, bronze, brass, copper, red brass, iron oxide alloy and ceramic, there are thousands of potential applications across a wide range of industries, including workboats.

StopStand is a textured anti-slip floor coating that adds an important measure of safety to dangerous and wet floors, like those found on ships at sea, as well as slippery work surfaces in front of machines, platforms and stair, and areas where grease, oil, coolants and other liquids can cause a fall hazard.

Stronghold Coating Systems is the exclusive North American supplier of DIAMANT products, the world’s “gold standard” in structural repair for critical applications. Stronghold products, manufactured in the USA in their centrally located Franklin, OH facility, have extensive credentials in commercial, aviation and military projects. A veteran-owned company, they have over two decades of experience solving tough industrial applications involving corrosion, porosity, release properties or cost and have extensive experience with thermal coatings for ARC, plasma and HVOF application. In addition, they develop special coatings, including thermoplastics, for pump applications. For additional information visit www.StrongholdOne.com
