Mercury Marine has announced that it will offer joystick piloting on V-6 3.4L 200hp and 225hp FourStroke outboards with DTS and V-6 3.4L 200hp SeaPro outboards with DTS.  Mercury and SeaStar Solutions have collaborated and worked together to provide a fully validated joystick package for installation on Mercury’s new 200hp and 225hp FourStroke outboard engines.

“With the launch of this offering, we are bringing joystick piloting to a broader audience.  In the past, only customers with 250hp engines and higher were able to experience the intuitive features of joystick piloting.  Today, boaters who are interested in boat packages outfitted with dual 200hp and 225hp outboards will have access to joystick controls,” said Kris Neff, Mercury Marine Vice -President of Global Category Management.

In addition to joystick docking and maneuvering, the system allows the driver to hold a boat in position, hold its heading, or hold its position and heading simultaneously.  Joystick piloting for the V-6 outboards is included in Vessel Config, Mercury’s online rigging configurator, and can be ordered through MercNet.  The product will be available in late Q4 of 2018.

In 2013, Mercury introduced Joystick Piloting for Outboards, the first of its kind in the marine marketplace.  It remains the most precise system on the market and the only system from helm to stern designed to work with a Mercury engine.

An anchoring system has two parts: the anchor itself and the rode which connects the anchor to the boat. To be effective, an anchor must have good holding power, and the rode must be strong enough to withstand the strains that are put on it.
