MOB DEVICE PROVIDES IMMEDIATE ALERT FOR FAST RESPONSE

Professional mariners know the life-threatening hazards of falling overboard, but may not consider how critical the recovery window is, especially with a moving vessel. Compact and easily carried on a PFD, the ALERT2 Man-Overboard Alarm System from Emerald Marine Products immediately sets off a piercing audible alarm in the wheelhouse upon immersion, and can even be wired to stop an engine and/or set a waypoint on a chartplotter.

At its most basic, the easily installed ALERT2 Man-Overboard Alarm System consists of the AT101 Transmitter and AR100 Receiver. Combined, the reliable and proven system provides crew with the critical extra seconds needed for a successful, locally managed man overboard (MOB) rescue operation.

Water-activated and completely automatic, the AT101 Transmitter doesn’t rely on another piece of equipment to trigger it, the way an inflatable PFD-deployed AIS device does. Nor does it send a signal to a satellite only to relay it back to the vessel; it communicates directly and immediately with the receiver for the fastest response time. At a mere 5.5″ x 1.5″ x .75″ and only 4 oz. with batteries, it won’t get in the way when working like bulkier units do. For offshore oil and gas industry use, Emerald Marine Products’ model AT200 is certified Intrinsically Safe (IS).

Upon receiving an MOB activation signal, the AR100 Receiver sets off a loud, 95 dB alarm and bright red alert light on the display. It can be wired to shut down engines—essential for solo mariners and fishermen. Connected to a compatible GPS chart plotter, it automatically sets an overboard waypoint. External speakers and strobes can be utilized with the AR100. It can also be configured to alert via a remote cellular dial-up, radio transmission burst or Internet-connected device. The AR100 Receiver runs on 12V, or on 110V using the optional power supply. It comes with a flexible whip antenna, coaxial cable and full mounting hardware.

The optional ALERT2 Portable Directional Finder aids crew in locating the MOB when visual contact is lost due to darkness or sea conditions. Unlike AIS, which is typically installed in the wheelhouse, the directional finder can be used on deck. Rescuers sweep the horizon to quickly home-in on the transmitter’s signal for a fast recovery.

For 18 years, the ALERT2 Man-Overboard Alarm System has protected mariners on military, government and commercial vessels. It’s approved by the FCC and Industry Canada; no license is required.
