TAYLOR MADE UPGRADES VERTICAL GLASS FURNACE IN IRELAND

Taylor Made Glass & Systems Limited announces a significant re-design of their large vertical tempering furnace to accommodate customer demands for wider single-pane windscreens with superior optics.
“As the leading supplier in Europe for large single pane windscreens, it was on us to develop and expand the technical limits of vertical tempering,” said Eric Wagner, director of business development for Taylor Made Glass & Systems. “With the modification to the furnace, our maximum and proven glass width was stretched to 3150mm. This is over 40% wider than the maximum furnace dimensions reported by our competitors who use vertical technology. The extension will enable our customers to use single-pane windscreens on even larger yachts.”
Taylor Made Glass & Systems Limited uses only the vertical curving and tempering process. This method produces a superior optic quality. The glass does not pass over rollers during the softening phase, as it does in the horizontal curving and tempering process. The rollers can leave optical marks.
Using the vertical curving and tempering process, and with the skill base of over eight decades of glass manufacturing in Ireland, Taylor Made Glass & Systems Limited can create discontinuous and even slightly spherical panes.
