SCANSTRUT WINS PATENT FOR WATERPROOF PHONE AND TABLET CASES

Scanstrut Waterproof Case Patent

July 11, 2016

Scanstrut is delighted to have received a British patent for its unique Lifedge range of waterproof phone and tablet cases.

The Intellectual Property Office seal of approval celebrates the unique and inventive sealing system which makes the robust products 100% waterproof and fully functioning for outdoors lifestyles.

Tom Reed, Scanstrut’s Managing Director, says: “It’s great to be recognised once more for our in-house capability to design and develop innovative British products that withstand any outdoors and marine environment. To be genuinely innovative in order to achieve a patent is some challenge. We’re thrilled to have achieved this endorsement, for the benefit of the products and our customers.”

The Lifedge waterproof cases are a range within the Scanstrut brand, which has a 30 year international reputation of designing and manufacturing market-leading installation solutions for marine electronics.

The cases underwent rigorous testing in the design stage and guarantee to be 100% waterproof up to a depth of one meter for two hours, as well as shockproof when dropped from one meter high onto concrete. The range also extends to the world’s first charge cable that guarantees your devices are 100% waterproof when charging.

Scanstrut has a history of winning design awards and nominations for its extensive product list, while always drawing on the specialist skills of its in-house team to develop marine-ready products that withstand the harshest of environments. These include the ultra-tough ROKK mounts range that ensure your smaller and hand-held electronics are secure and outdoor-ready, whether hitting waves at 40knots or biking in rugged mountain terrain. Scanstrut’s cable seals are the only guaranteed and proven watertight seals for electronic cabling and its new waterproof dual USB charge socket is again the only product on the market to guarantee waterproof onboard charging.

Tom Reed adds: “It’s fantastic to be continually innovating and building on our product range, while responding to new trends in outdoors electronics and market demand.”

The Lifedge cases are made from high quality, durable and UV resistant materials and have an IP68 waterproof rating. The phone case is compatible with an iPhone 5/5s/SE and the tablet case with an iPad 2/3/4. They provide full functionality of buttons and features and have easy access to a sealable charging port. The screen has an anti-abrasion coating that ensures touch-sensitive functionality.

An anchoring system has two parts: the anchor itself and the rode which connects the anchor to the boat. To be effective, an anchor must have good holding power, and the rode must be strong enough to withstand the strains that are put on it.
