Wear and Tear Pad

Elimination of rope chafe damage to gelcoat surfaces

Having sailed most of my life, I have always appreciated simple solutions to practical problems. Keeping the appearance of our yachts in good condition is fundamental to maintaining their asset value and, for this reason, I designed a new product to protect Cockpit and Cabin sides from rope chafe damage.

Called the ‘WearAndTear Pad’, it consists of an ultra thin sheet of marine grade stainless steel, held securely in place with a high specification self-adhesive backing. Following two years of successful trials on my Beneteau First 375, where the Genoa furling line had been causing serious wear to the edge of the cockpit, the product is now available through our stockists or directly from our website: www.WearAndTearPads.com .

‘WearAndTearPads’ are quick and easy to install. Simply ensure the application area is grease free and dry, peel off the adhesive backing sheet, and press firmly into position. Should you need to remove the pad for any reason, just heat it with very hot water and peel off.

Sized at 150mm x 50 mm (6” x 2”) and 225mm x 50 mm (9” x 2”) these laser cut ‘pads’ are supplied ready to fit and are easy to apply.

Over 9,000 orders have now been received from almost every corner of the world. As you will see from the photos, these ‘pads’ are visually attractive and completely eliminate rope chafe damage to gelcoat finishes.
