Electric Shock Drowning- A Silent Killer
The safety of marina electrical systems has been under scrutiny for some years, as deaths from electric shock drowning were on the rise. Many locations have initiated new protection standards for docks. This presentation will detail the new, stricter standards, frequent code violations and maintenance issues, and solutions. The discussion will also cover product solutions for pedestals and monitoring systems, and examine operator’s issues in dealing with the developing regulations.

STUDY FINDS OCEANS INDUSTRY CAREER OPPORTUNITIES UNDER THE RADAR AMONG NEW BRUNSWICK YOUTH

New Brunswick StudyA study released July 31st, highlights the need to increase awareness among New Brunswick youth about career opportunities in the oceans industry, including aquaculture, shipbuilding, boatbuilding, tidal energy, and ocean technologies.

The Student Intentions and Perceptions Study, developed by researchers for the Marine People Partnership (MPP) at the Institute for Ocean Research Enterprise (IORE), along with the New Brunswick Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD), summarizes data and insights gained from a survey of over 3,200 students in grades 6-9 across New Brunswick regarding careers in the Oceans Industry.
