International Marina Institute Recognizes New CMMs at 2012 IMBC Conference

The International Marina Institute (IMI), the training subsidiary of the Association of Marina Industries (AMI), awarded eight marina professionals as Certified Marina Managers (CMM) and one marina professional as Certified Marina Operator (CMO) at the AMI-produced 2012 International Marina & Boatyard Marina Conference (IMBC) in Lake Buena Vista, FL, on February 2. The CMM designation recognizes and distinguishes the most highly qualified marina managers throughout the world.

IMI’s newest CMMs include Scott Cain of Bay Port Yachting Centre (Midland Ontario); Abad Melanie of Rickenbacker Marina Inc. (Key Biscayne, FL); Mike Duling of Hideaway Bay Marina (Flowery Beach, GA); Christina Martin of Nantucket Boat Basin (Nantucket, MA); John Moren of Tourism Development Investment Co. (Abu Dhabi, UAE);  Brian Deher of Simpson Bay Marina (Simpson Bay, St. Maarten); Jeff Holmes of St Croix Marina (Hudson, WI); Randall Lyons of Newburyport Marina (Newburyport, MA); Robert De Nigris, New York Athletic Club (Travers Island, NY); Ken Vollbrecht of Endeavor Marina (Seabrook, TX); and Joe Springer of Fernandina Harbor Marina (Fernandina Beach, FL).

IMI’s first CMO is Robert Tubman of Antelope Point (Page, AZ).

There are currently 291 CMMs worldwide and 6 CMOs worldwide. In addition to demonstrating five years’ marina-management experience, CMM candidates must complete Intermediate and Advanced Marina Management courses available through IMI while CMO candidates must demonstrate three years of marina management experience and complete the Marina Operators Course (MOC) and the Intermediate Marina Management course (IMM). The next Intermediate Marina Management course is scheduled for February 26–March 1, 2012, and the next Advanced Marina Management course is scheduled for March 25–30, 2012—both in Charleston, SC. The next Marina Operators course is scheduled for September 23–27, 2012, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
